Beth Ritter quilt reception

Beth K. Ritter-Perry, in her second leg of her Gallery Show at Unity on Greenville, will be showing her unique quilts.

Caprichos Studio is a line of original fine art and handcrafted goods by Beth K. Ritter-Perry.

The word caprichos means “keepsakes” in South American Spanish, but in Mexican vernacular it’s translated as something “ya gotta have”, or un capricho. Either way, it works.

Based in Dallas TX in the community of Oak Cliff near the Bishop Arts District, Caprichos Studio was born in 1994 in San Diego CA and is inspired by a passion for the fine handicrafts, folkways and creative traditions of artisans and craftspeople the world over. It all began with a small but distinctive collection of African, South Asian and Japanese textiles, collectible beads, artifacts and curios acquired from a world-traveling neighbor.
Over the years this fascination has evolved from the creation of unique art jewelry, art dolls, quilts and mixed media goods handcrafted at Ritter-Perry’s dining room table for friends and coworkers to becoming an “Urban Bohemian” lifestyle brand involving an extensive (and eclectic) collection of select handmade treasures including original paintings, drawings and silk screen prints, precious and semiprecious jewelry, fashion accessories, handknits and home decor.

Caprichos Studio creations are available at art and craft shows and venues in the DFW Metroplex throughout the year and at exclusive trunk shows held in the Spring and Fall to introduce new merchandise, and a Christmas Holiday Sale where a funky good time is had by all.

Ritter-Perry earned an M.F.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has taught visual art (K-12 Art Specialist and as an Assistant Professor) to students in Maryland, Southern California and Texas. She also organizes and curates The Oak Cliff Art Divaz Retail Therapy Events, which are juried marketplaces featuring upmarket handcrafted art goods created by a small group of local female artists and artisans presented at different venues around the Metroplex.
