CHILDREN AND YOUTH LESSONS FOR NOVEMBER 23, 2008
CELEBRATING LIFE
MONTHLY RESPONSIBILITES
Each morning a few of the children and youth will pull from our “Sunday School Responsibility Bucket”. This bucket contains several responsibilities that will be performed by the children and youth in order that we may instill in them a sense of responsibility, respect, and ownership in regards to their church and Sunday classes. For example, the bucket will consist of some of the following responsibilities, facilitating welcome and introductions, and ensuring the children and youth sign-in and out of their classrooms.
WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS
Sunday morning will start with our children having an opportunity introduce themselves to each other. We start every morning welcoming our newcomers and affirming the presence of our members!
CONNECTING TO SOURCE
This is a time for all children, youth and Uniteens to come together and bring into consciousness their connection with God. Prior to classes starting each child and person will participate in the candle lighting ceremony in which they will recognize that God is the Center of all thoughts and actions for positive outcomes.
PRAYER FOR PROTECTION
The “Prayer for Protection” will be spoken each Sunday after the children and youth connect to their God Source.
The Light of God surrounds me.
The Love of God enfolds me.
The Power of God protects me.
The Presence of God watches over me.

LESSON PURPOSE
For the remainder of this month and during the month of December, the Pre-School and Elementary will take time to prepare for the upcoming Christmas program. The youth will practice songs and a short play in order to ready themselves for the opportunity to celebrate the life of Christ.
TAKE HOME ACTIVITY FOR CHILDREN, YOUTH AND PARENTS
Every week the children and youth will be given a lesson summary to share with their parents and to have discussions about what they learned. The take home activity also serves the purpose of informing parents of the lesson theme, affirmations being taught and the bible story.
Note – curriculum and ideas used for this lesson are taken from “Celebrating My God-Self”.
The “Twelve Powers” are our God-given gifts that help us to develop an inner balance with peace and harmony. When we use these tools we are helping ourselves in our daily living. when used with the Unity principles, we help our children and youth raise awareness to their God-given powers and their inner Christ-likeness.
