Youth and Family Mission Statement

Our goal and purpose is to provide a loving environment that allows the children and youth to grow spiritually based on the universal laws of God’s Love. To help the children recognize their oneness with God while accepting and demonstrating the principles taught by Jesus Christ.

INTRODUCTION AND WELCOME

Welcome To Unity on Greenville!!! The Youth and Family Ministry would like to invite your children, youth and you to join our Sunday mornings classes at 11:00am. We provide childcare services in our nursery (ages 0-2), starting at 9:15am. This service is provided to parents who find pleasure in attending early services.

Our PRE-SCHOOL, ELEMENTARY, UNITEENS AND Y.O.U. classes begin at 11:00am. The classrooms are designed for age appropriate curriculum and activities. The curriculum used is based on the, “Basic Unity Principles of A Living Curriculum.” Our firm belief is that children should be allowed to use everyday practical experiences to develop core values that will help them to embodied spiritual principles.

Co-Founder of Unity Defines Our Goals (Myrtle Fillmore)

Our mission is not to entertain the children, but to call them out. To be always entertained is to be dwarfed and dependent. To be “called out” is to follow the harmonious law of the soul’s unfoldment. Who meddles with the rosebud? What fingers are deft enough to pry open that marvel of folded beauty? We are wise enough to leave it alone to follow the glad law of its own unfolding, but our children! Have we dealt as wisely with these buds of marvelous possibilities? Have we always remembered that they, too, must quicken and unfold through the innate law of their own genius? - Myrtle Fillmore

BASIC UNITY PRINCIPLES FOR A LIVING CIRRICULUM

  1. There is one Presence and one Power, God.

  2. God is individualized in each person as the Christ consciousness as demonstrated by Jesus Christ.

  3. Prayer is a means to experience the presence of God. Prayer and meditation are ways to “be still and know that I am God” and to accept the spiritual reality of our nature.

  4. The law of mind action shows us that our thoughts will reflect the way we experience our daily lives. Through our beliefs, judgments, thoughts, words and actions, we create our perceptions of people, events and activities and choose our responses to them.

  5. Practical application of our truth is remembering that we are eternal spiritual beings and allowing that love to fully express in our activities and relationships. We are in the world, and not of, or limited by, the changing world. -Taken from Children on the Quest, “A Living Curriculum”
