Advent Gift of Peace

It’s Christmas time again. Ready or not, the holiday season has descended with twinkling lights and ho, ho, ho’s.  The cheer of Christmas sits beside harsh realities of life, loss, and the human experience.  Yet, when we focus on the spiritual aspect of Christmas, the season of Advent, we remember the deep rich spiritual lessons in the birth of the Christ – the reason for the season.

Last week, we opened our hearts to receive the advent gift of hope that serves as the seed of faith. With a secure foundation of faith, this week we receive and welcome the gift of peace.   As we look around the world, we quickly realize that our peace is not conditional to outer circumstances. This peace is from within and emanates from us to calm the chaos of the world, to soften the rough edges of life, and to bring a sense of harmony to our moments.

My hope for you is that you pause often to nurture the peace that surpasses human understanding and can only be found within.  As you travel to your holiday socials and gatherings with family and friends, pause often to allow the deep peace that is found in the innermost reaches of your being to be revealed in rich new ways.  May you and the “peace that surpasses all understanding and guards your heart and mind in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:6.  May you carry this deep inner peace into the world!

Love and blessings,

Rev. Karen
