Inspirations from Myrtle Fillmore

We often think of Charles Fillmore as the driving force of Unity. Charles Filmore truly guided our movement forward and
wrote many books and gave many talks that inspired many people. We must remember that it was Myrtle Fillmore who
inspired Charles with her steadfast prayer practice that led to a significant healing of a life threatening chronic respiratory
disease.  Watching Myrtle demonstrate her faith and manifest physical healing led Charles on his personal spiritual journey
which resulted in their joint efforts of bringing Unity into existence.

As Mother’s Day approaches, I pay tribute to Myrtle Fillmore as Mother of Unity.   Myrtle’s writings teach the core of Truth
with loving-kindness.  For example, I share these words from “How to Let God Help You”.

It is up to you to accept your God-given perfection for yourself.  Put aside the past mistakes and untrue suggestions, and fix
your undivided attention upon the Creator of your inner pattern of perfection.  This is the secret of success in all spiritual
treatments.  You must bring all of your mental attitudes, the centers of your consciousness, and even your physical
structures, to this high place in Divine Mind where you see as God sees.

Oh, my goodness, reading these words inspires me to want to sit down and do all that Myrtle Fillmore says we should do for
successful spiritual treatment.   The language may feel antiquated to some, yet the truth remains unchanged and vital
today.

How important it is for us to live life focused on our divine nature so that we live fully and completely in the consciousness of
Spirit.  Life truly can be meaningful regardless of what is happening in our world when we live from divine consciousness.
Examining mental attitudes, untrue thoughts that creep into our minds really do impact the course of our days and our
journey of life.

When we become disciplined with our thoughts, words, and actions when we practice dominion over what we invite into
our mind, the words that tumble from our lips, and the actions we take in our world, we call ourselves to this higher place
where we grow the ability to see as God sees.

I find myself compelled to spend time with the idea of the “inner pattern of perfection”.  Being creations of God, we have the
potential for perfection.  Jesus evolved to the Christ as an example for each of us to know that we too can evolve and grow
in our own Christ nature.  Jesus demonstrated the inner pattern of perfection by claiming his divinity in John 10:30 “I and
the Father are one”.  Granted this bold claim was one of the ideas that led to the Easter story, yet, even then Jesus taught
us that we too can overcome the confines of this world to live fully and completely from Spirit.

The words of Myrtle Fillmore warm my heart with Truth, inspire my day with possibility, and invite me to an ever-growing
expression of the Divine as me.

Now, I’m going to take a seat and fix my undivided attention on the Creator of my inner pattern of perfection.  Then I’m going
to practice guiding my consciousness and attitudes toward God.  Moving toward the place of Divine Mind where I see as
God sees, may take a bit of time so I shall choose my seat with thoughtfulness.   Will you join me?

With love and blessings,

Rev. Karen
